Shores Angler Grapples With Huge Muskie!

November 2nd, 2009 editor No comments

Tony Jaros from St. Clair Shores, Michigan used to be a commercial boat captain.  Then he decided not to renew his license and go fishing by himself.  Last Thursday, October 29, Tony probably wished he had some company.

“I was fishing the Thames River area just as I do every time,” Jaros said.  “Just fishing from shallow to deep.  Using a brown perch-colored Ziggy bait.”

Jaros had just gotten to 11′ of water when a monster muskie hammered the bait.  “I knew I had a 40-pounder but it was tough to fight and land it since I was alone.”

Jaros landed the fish and took it into a weigh station at Thames River.  The fish weighed 48 1/2 pounds and was 56″ long.  He was told it is a MOMC Lake St. Clair record but needs further verification.

Jaros also landed a 20-pound muskie and another 33-pounder – all three fish in an hour and half of fishing!  But what do you expect from a guy who used to guide anglers to such fish.

Congratulations, Tony.
