Ice Fishing at Metro Beach

January 6th, 2011 editor No comments

We found this awesome ice fishing destination and wanted to share it with you all.  We share great public fishing locations – that’s why you are a subscriber to this site.

Metro Beach docks

Easy access for ice fishing and productive too!

This is the North Marina boat docks at Metro Beach.  To get there, just drive into the park and bear left until you see the marina.  You park, walk about 100 feet or so, drill a hole in the ice, sit down on the docks and drop a line.  What could be better?  If your fingers get cold, walk to the car.  If your butt gets cold sit somewhere else on the dock.  This is ice fishing!

We were out there two weeks ago and the best baits was a very small jig tipped with a wax worm.  The water at the docks is roughly 8 feet deep.  The perch were, and likely still are, close to shore.  No jumbos but lots of action to be had by all.

Perch are in close to shore.
