Perch Consumption Press Release

Just as the skies are turning grey and spitting cold we received this photo from an area angler who wants to warm our hearts and stir our dreams of great things to come.

Mitch Chmielarczyk is a nice young man with a great angling future.  He has sent contributions to this fishing report site before.  Here is Mitch with a nice catch and release on a spinner bait on a small lake in the Clinton River watershed.  As we look outside our office windows at the snow and grey skies, its a photo like this that reminds us that the good times are just a few months away.
In Lake St. Clair, perch are in close to shore.  We saw two anglers on the pier at Blossum Heath today pulling in numerous perch using shiners.  Justin from Lakeside Fishing Shop used Slab Grabber spoons tipped with a white bead to land a bucketful of perch at his secret fishing hole in Harrison Township.  If you can get access perch are in close and very plentiful now.
NOAA yellow perch advisory

Another reader sent this yellow perch consumption press release to us today.  As perch are, along with walleyes, the best table food fish available in our parts we thought posting this information would help ease some of your minds and maybe dispell any incorrect rumors.
