Muskie Season Opens Saturday on Lake St. Clair

Lake St. Clair Muskie

Muskie season opens Saturday

Muskie fishing begins on Lake St. Clair, the St. Clair River, and the Detroit River this Saturday, June 5.  Minimum keeper size is 42″ and each angler has a limit of one fish/day.

To celebrate the muskie opener, the Michigan Ontario Muskie Club (MOMC) will have their annual Joe LePage Classic at the Sun-Up Marina in New Baltimore, Michigan on Saturday and Sunday.  Weigh-in: Sunday, 4 PM at the Sun-Up Marina, on the Salt River.  If coming by car, it is located on Jefferson at approximately Sugarbush.  Call Ron Welsch at 586-419-5063 for more details.

Walleyes are still hitting on the Detroit River.  More guys are catching fish handlining these days.  Click here to learn more about handlining or come into the store and ask around.

Muskie baits are in stock at Lakeside Fishing Shop.  Come in and stock up for the opener.

Looking at heading to St. Clair Tuesday June 8th for some Musking and Smallmouth Fishing. The weather is throwing me for a loop? huge storm rolled in today….how much will this affect the water color and fishing forcast?

Suppose to warm up in the middle of the week. Im taking my buddy and his son 12 years old…we have slayed the muskie and smallies a few time there before, but the weather conditions have always been supreme. If any has any knowlege of and up to date fishing report let me know.

    Thanks everyone,

    ryan

Ryan: Smalie fishing is still awesome. Don’t forget it’s still the catch and release period for smallmouth. Can’t say about the water color. I’d say just come and fish and get different baits for different conditions. Don’t let the weather dictate. You will have a great time.
