St. Clair Fishing Report

Two 6-pound Detroit River walleyes

Above,  Kien Tran shows off his two beautiful six-pound Detroit River walleyes at the shop last weekend.  That’s Ken from the shop at the left.  Mr. Tran said this was his first time jigging for walleyes and had been fishing off of Sinbad’s.  He was using an all-silver Fin-S bait on his jig.  Congratulations Kien!

On Sunday, we got another photo of a walleye from an angler who did not leave his name… but left an impression on us!  How about this fish?

This lunker walleye turned up at the shop.

Then on Monday, we heard the story of Michael Grant, age 6, and his 9 year old brother Stephen Grant.  They brought in a photo of the boys holding a carp 36 1/8 inches long weighing 34 1/8 pounds.  They caught the fish in Lake St. Clair on a night crawler.  No word from their mom if they filleted the fish or not.

Northern pike are on the prowl, catch and release is on for bass, perch are hitting and the walleyes are in the Detroit River.  What a time to be an angler in SE Michigan!
