Walleye and Northern Jig Set-up
Northerns are in the shallows now
If you are not interested in chasing steelhead on the Clinton River over the next week or two check out this nothern/walleye rig Dan, Jr. in the shop set-up for us.
Dan says big northerns are in the shallows now and looking for baits like this.  He attached a 4″ Fin-S plastic bait to a 3″ stinger hook.  The jig is a .75-oz chartruese soccer ball jig.   If you’re having a tough time rigging these up, come into the shop and ask for Dan, Jr.  He’ll take the time to get you set-up.

Wyandotte Worm for Northerns and Walleyes

The jig on the right is a Wyandotte Worm. It’s a 1-0z jig and Dan says anglers are using them now for northerns and walleye that are showing up in the Detroit River.  Tie them directly to your line and jig them.

If live bait is your game, the shop’s got lots of shiners.
Where to find northerns in shallow water?  Go to Metro Beach and just off the Spillway in L’Anse Creuse Bay.
