Another Huge Lake St. Clair Muskie!

This week we have a record-breaking muskie fish story to tell and also let you know about a store-wide sale going on right now!

First, Rocky Richards from Algonac has fished Lake St. Clair waters for over 10-years.  He and his buddies, Captain Tom Loy and Dave Tattine, had expectations of catching a fish last Saturday during the MOMC season-ending muskie tournament, but not a fish of a lifetime.

“But,” Richards said, “You’re always thinking about it.”

“We started fishing just like we always do in the Belle River area near the red barn cell tower in 12.5 ft of water.  The water was very choppy – two-foot waves and the water was very dirty.  We were fishing a Nils chocolate perch.”

“It had been a long day and this was the last run of the day at about 5:30.  First one rod went off and we had a nice fish on the line.  Minutes later, a second rod went off and we had two fish on at once.”

“That’s always exciting,” said Richards.

“We got the first fish in – a 42”er. Then we got the big fish in the boat.  At first, we had no idea how big it was.  But when it hit the deck we immediately knew it would be close to a record.  Sure enough, it was 54″

According to Scott D’Eath, president of MOMC, the fish beat the old MOMC weight record for a muskie by just over 3-pounds.  Congratulations Rocky!
